Top Red Carpet Looks from the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards
The red carpet season kicked off in full swing as some of television’s biggest stars gathered at LA’s Peacock Theater for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday.
Returning to its traditional September date, following the delays caused by last year’s actors' and writers' strikes, the Emmys are not just a celebration of TV’s finest—it often sets the stage for which shows might dominate the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards. The red carpet also serves as a preview of the eveningwear trends that will define Hollywood in the months ahead.
This year’s red carpet exuded a relatively understated elegance, with many celebrities opting for dark, floor-length gowns, classic silhouettes, and sleek column dresses. However, amidst the refined black ensembles, there were plenty of playful touches. From the subtle gold accents of Laverne Cox’s vintage Alexander McQueen look to the sparkling pavé neckline on Selena Gomez’s Ralph Lauren halter gown, stars found ways to add a dash of flair.
The night's standout color was pink, seen in various shades and styles. Meryl Streep made a statement in a bubblegum pink pantsuit and pussy bow blouse, while Hannah Einbinder dazzled in a dusty pink Louis Vuitton gown. Eiza González and Aja Naomi King also embraced the trend, wearing stunning creations by Tamara Ralph and Giambattista Valli, respectively.
Many attendees experimented with eye-catching fabrics and textures. Ayo Edebiri, star of "The Bear," turned heads in a mosaic-like sequined outfit by Bottega Veneta, and Quinta Brunson wowed in a strapless Georges Chakra couture mermaid dress that appeared to flow like liquid. Kristen Wiig (in Oscar de la Renta) and Gillian Anderson (in Emilia Wickstead) shone in silvery metallic gowns, while Ella Purnell took a bold step in a chainmail-inspired dress by Rabanne.

In the menswear department, some stars moved away from classic black-tie attire in favor of bold, flamboyant looks. Chris Perfetti of “Abbott Elementary” stunned in a theatrical Christian Siriano ruffled shirt, and “Fallout” actor Aaron Moten stood out in an all-red Kenzo suit with a Nehru collar. Alan Cumming and Richard Gadd embraced their Scottish roots, both donning kilts, with Cumming’s plaid cummerbund doubling as a scarf.
Even those who chose more traditional tailoring added playful elements, like host Dan Levy’s sculptural Loewe neckline and Jonathan Bailey’s sleek Giorgio Armani suit, paired with a casually unbuttoned silk shirt.
