Jamaat petitions the apex court to restore its registration.

Jamaat-e-Islami plans to file a petition in the Supreme Court's Appellate Division tomorrow to regain its registration with the Election Commission as a political party.
"An application will be submitted to the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division tomorrow to revive the dismissed appeal concerning the cancellation of our party's registration," said Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir, Jamaat's lawyer, speaking to journalists today (31 August).
He explained that the case in the Appellate Division remains unresolved following a full hearing and was marked 'Dismissed for Default'. "We will apply for the revival of the case," he added.
"If our appeal is accepted, we will regain our registration and our party symbol," Shishir noted.
This decision by Jamaat comes shortly after the government issued an executive order allowing the party to resume its activities. However, Jamaat has chosen to pursue legal action to restore its registration.

Previously, the Election Commission revoked Jamaat's registration, and on 1 August, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina banned its activities as a political party.
